Saving Uganda's Ankole Longhorn cows
Used for food, trade and as a measure of social wealth, cattle are an integral part of daily life in Africa.
Some breeds are rarer or more sought after than others, such as the Ankole Longhorns of Uganda. Not so long ago, this rare breed was on the brink of extinction, because of cross-breeding.
The BBC's Roderick Macleod travelled to the south-west of the country to find out more about a new drive to preserve these animals and help transform economies.
