Unemployment figures down 35,000 to 1.83 million people
Employment figures published Wednesday showed another fall in unemployment to 1.83 million people - down 35,000.
This means that 5.5% of the working population of the UK are out of work - the lowest figure for seven years. Wages excluding bonuses were up 2.2%.
However, the good news was tempered by a more pessimistic outlook from the Bank of England.
It cut its forecasts for economic growth, wages and productivity.
