Fate of Zimbabwe's mobile operator Telecel is uncertain

The fate of Zimbabwe's third largest mobile telecommunications company, Telecel, is hanging in the balance after the country's regulatory authority cancelled its operating licence.

The regulator alleges that Telecel has not complied with ownership regulations and licensing fees for the past 15 years.

The future of around 1,000 employees is at stake and the possible impact on Zimbabwe's fragile economy has provoked outrage.
