UK economic growth slows in third quarter

Britain's economy grew in the three months to September, but the growth was slower than economists had predicted.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed growth of 0.5%: lower than the 0.7% most commentators had forecast.

The service sector showed the strongest growth, but there was a worrying decline in the construction industry.
