How well is Google's parent company Alphabet doing?

Last year Google created Alphabet, a parent company that now owns Google.

The idea was to spin out some of the search company's wackier ideas like the driverless car so investors had a clearer view of how the company was performing.

And we are about to get our first look at its earnings, as it files its quarterly results on Monday.
