China's 'important' seal fetches $10m at HK auction

A sandalwood seal, being hailed as China's most important historical object, has fetched $10.4m (£7.4m) at a Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong.

The Seal of the Mandate of Heaven belonged to China's longest reigning monarch - the 17th Century Kangxi Emperor from the Qing Dynasty.

It's made of sandalwood, bearing the inscription "revere heaven and serve thy people".

The seal was tagged with an initial bidding price of $6.5m.

The BBC's Juliana Liu had a close look at the seal in Hong Kong.
