Lagarde says 'Heck no!' to hint of Treasury interference

A reporter at the conference notes that IMF managing director Christine Lagarde thanked the Treasury for its help in compiling the report at the start of the press conference.

She and the Chancellor George Osborne appear to get on well when they conduct conferences together. And he has made similar warnings about the risks to the economy should a Brexit happen.

The reporter (from the Press Association) asks if the Treasury had had any input into it. A visibly startled IMF managing director Christine Lagarde responds: "Heck no!

"To assume, or allude, or hint that we would be influenced by the authorities of any country is a completely wrong assessment."
