Leave: Cut import VAT and 'transform' London art scene

Guy Sainty runs the Stair Sainty Gallery in Mayfair, London, where he deals in European art from the 16th to the 20th Centuries.

He feels that his business - and the London art market in general - is suffering because of EU VAT regulations.

Under the rules, VAT is levied on all artworks imported from outside the EU.

Were the UK to leave the EU and scrap import VAT on artworks, says Mr Sainty, London could regain its historic place as the centre of the global art market.
