‘Eco-sexy' vegan shoes take on leather industry in Brazil

Insecta Shoes is an eco-friendly company in Brazil that turns recycled vintage dresses and plastic bottles into shoes.

Despite the competitive leather industry and the continuing recession in the country, the firm - established in 2014 - has sold thousands of vegan shoes and earned its first million reais ($300,000; £230,000) last year.

Owner and co-founder Barbara Mattivy says her shoes, which are made out of colourful patterns, sell well because they are "eco-sexy".
