Specsavers isn't the only company to trademark a word
Optician group Specsavers, which uses the phrase "should've gone to Specsavers" in its advertising, has had its plan to trademark the use of "should've" and "shouldve" approved by the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO).
Tania Clark, a trademark lawyer at Withers and Rogers, told PM's Eddie Mair she was surprised, but that Specsavers was not the first company to do this.
