'Know what you're worth': Top tips for women's pay

Susan Raines, a professor of conflict management, explains her experience of fighting for better pay and offers her best advice.

Women are not less likely than men to ask for a pay rise. A study of 4,600 people across 800 employees by the Cass Business School, and the universities of Warwick and Wisconsin, has found the "reticent woman" theory does not hold true.

However, the research found women were less likely to receive a pay rise after asking for one.
