Former WTO director warns UK on leaving EU with no deal

Former director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy has said that the UK government's suggestion that leaving the EU with no trade deal is better than a bad deal, is "not the best way" to start negotiations.

Mr Lamy told Radio 4's World at One that if the UK were to use WTO rules instead of a bilateral free trade agreement, trade would be "less open and then more costly".
