Minimum wage 'a hurdle' for my disabled son

Over the past four years the employment rate for people with learning disabilities has declined - it currently stands at just 6%. This is despite Government work programmes to find people suitable jobs.

In 2014, the Conservative minister Lord Freud was criticised for suggesting some people with disabilities should be paid less.

The Minister for Disabled People, Justin Tomlinson, says the low rate of employment is "unacceptable" but says paying below the minimum wage is not the answer.

However, some feel that the minimum wage is actually a barrier into work.
