Supermarket introduces 'quiet hour' for customers with autism

A supermarket is set to introduce a "quiet hour" every Saturday morning to allow customers with autism to feel more comfortable in the store.

Simon Lea, who runs the Asda Living shop at Cheetham Hill in Manchester, will turn off all the music, escalators and any other technology which may prove over-stimulating to some people, for the first hour of trading every Saturday.

This continues a growing trend we have seen for autism friendly events and performances in places like theatres and cinema.

Mr Lea spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live's breakfast programme.
