Students face tuition fees rising to £9,000
The government has confirmed there will be a significant rise in university tuition fees for students in England.
From 2012 they will have to pay up to £9,000 a year for their degree courses.
The plans will cause difficulty for the coalition government because the Liberal Democrats promised in the General Election that they would oppose any rise in fees.
