Church proposes increasing non-christian school places

The Church of England is considering changing the admissions policy for its schools to include more children whose families do not worship regularly.

The head of the Church of England's education board, the Bishop of Oxford, said Church schools should give worshippers priority for no more than 10% of places.

Some church-aided schools allocate up to half their spaces to children who attend church regularly.
