Sats tests for 11-year-olds 'need more teacher assessment'
Sats tests for 11-year-olds in England and Wales should include more teacher assessment, according to a review published on Thursday.
The independent review, headed by Lord Bew, suggests teachers could provide a more accurate picture of a child's English composition abilities than the current written test.
He was also asked how to avoid "the risk of perverse incentives", such as the drilling of children for testing at the expense of a rounded education.
