Ofsted chief Michael Wilshaw: 'We've got to up our game'

A quarter of schools rated outstanding are to be re-examined because their teaching did not reach the highest standard.

Schools will only be "outstanding" if their teaching is, according to the new chief inspector of schools Sir Michael Wilshaw.

Speaking to the BBC he said that teachers had a duty to give youngsters the education that they needed to succeed in finding jobs and insisted: "We've got to up our game".

A new framework for Ofsted inspections came in last month which ended regular inspections for outstanding schools.
