Vorderman: UK's poor numeracy is shameful
TV presenter Carol Vorderman, who is head of the Conservative Party's "maths task force", told BBC News that evidence of Britain's poor maths skills was "shameful".
A new charity launched to champion better maths skills, National Numeracy, has claimed millions of people struggle to understand a payslip or a train timetable, or pay a household bill.
Ms Vorderman added that Britain had a negative attitude to maths - and that the media was partly to blame.
