Michael Gove outlines plans for O-level style exams to replace GCSEs
The Education Secretary, Michael Gove, has set out proposals to scrap GCSEs in a return to O-level style exams.
Mr Gove was forced to make a statement in the House of Commons, after documents setting out the move were leaked to the Daily Mail.
He denied the move was a return to the past - saying the change would ensure an education system that compared with the most rigorous in the world.
