School stopped anorexic girl returning, mother claims

An anorexic teenager was prevented from returning to school because staff feared other girls would copy her, her mother has claimed.

Lottie Twiselton, 17, was discharged from treatment but was told her presence would be "disruptive" unless she was well enough to return on a full-time basis.

Her mother, Claire, told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "I think they were worried that Lottie's behaviour... may have resulted in other girls wanting to follow that path - clearly not understanding that anorexia isn't a decision."

The independent school denied that Lottie was excluded, insisting they were very keen to support Lottie's integration but that interrupted study was not in the interests of her welfare or education.
