Former Tory candidate Mike Whitehead defects to UKIP
A former Conservative parliamentary candidate has joined UKIP, amid a row in the Hull West and Hessle constituency.
The Conservatives said Mike Whitehead was "sacked" as its candidate in Hull West and Hessle last week.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage had welcomed the move, with Mr Whitehead citing a row with the local Conservative group for his decision.
