Labour MP Chuka Umunna: 'We need to get the message right'

As soon as Ed Miliband announced his resignation as Labour's leader, the bookies started taking money on who would succeed him.

One name mentioned as a possible candidate is Labour MP Chuka Umunna.

Speaking on the Andrew Marr Show he would not confirm whether he would put his name forward but said he intended to play "the fullest part I can in rebuilding Labour".

Lord Mandelson, who ran Tony Blair's leadership bid in the 1990s, was non-committal when asked on the same programme whether Chuka Umunna would be a good Labour leadership candidate, saying he wished Mr Umunna was business secretary.
