Lester Holt and Donald Trump shake hands after debate

Whether it was a misunderstanding, a mistake or a deliberate snub, there was an awkward moment at the end of the first debate as Donald Trump appeared to delay shaking the moderator's hand.

Holt had been under intense pressure from both campaigns over his fact-checking, and had corrected Mr Trump on more than one occasion during the debate.

Trump tweeted criticism that Hillary Clinton hadn't faced questioning on her email servers, charitable foundation, or Benghazi - but then later said Holt did a "great job".
