Wallis Simpson's jewels fetch record prices at auction
A diamond bracelet once owned by Wallis Simpson, whose affair with Edward VIII led to his abdication, has sold for £4.5m ($7m) at auction.
The Cartier onyx and diamond panther bracelet was part of a 20-piece collection which included a gem-encrusted flamingo clip and a heart-shaped brooch with the initials "W.E." picked out in emerald, ruby and diamond.
David Bennett of Sotheby's Europe and Middle East said the collection, "put together in the middle of this extraordinary love affair", was "irresistible".
