Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez new American Idol judges

Music stars, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are debuting as new judges on the 10th Season of American Idol which premieres in the US on Wednesday 19 January.

Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith, admitted he had been nervous while filming.

"I was a little bit more nervous about saying the right thing at the wrong time or the wrong thing at the right time," he said.

Idol judge Randy Jackson was confident the pair had "jumped straight in".

"I think we all walked in a little tentative, didn't know what it was going to be, and then it just happened," Lopez added.
