Daniel Radcliffe named hero for support of gay helpline

Daniel Radcliffe has been honoured with a Hero award for his support of the Trevor Project, which aims to prevent suicide among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered young people.

The Harry Potter star said he thinks the public and financial support for the US non-profit organisation is one of the most important things he has been associated with during his career.

Since 2009, the actor has appeared in numerous public service announcements for the organisation, which was founded in 1998 by filmmakers James Lecesne, Peggy Rajski and Randy Stone.
