Kate Winslet on following in Joan Crawford's footsteps

Kate Winslet is to follow in Joan Crawford's footsteps, playing Mildred Pierce, a single mother struggling to raise her spoilt daughter in 1930s America.

But unlike Crawford, who won an Oscar for her performance in the 1945 film, Winslet's Mildred will be shown as a five-part television series on US cable channel HBO.

Talking Movies' Tom Brooks spoke to Winslet and co-star Guy Pearce about their new interpretation of James M Cain's original novel.
