Elvis songwriter Jerry Leiber dies

The pop lyricist Jerry Leiber, whose hits with songwriting partner Mike Stoller include Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock, has died at the age of 78. As well as Elvis Presley, Leiber earned his reputation with Stoller, penning tunes for The Coasters and Ben E King among others.
