Jarvis Cocker on the poetry of pop
Pulp were the leading lights of the 1990s Britpop movement and lead singer Jarvis Cocker, one of Britain's most original songwriters.
His lyrics are often inspired by his native city of Sheffield, in northern England, and filled with the fumbling awkwardness of lust and the sense of being a misfit.
Jarvis Cocker managed to turn his discomfort into hugely popular music and now those lyrics are being published in the form of a book.
'Mother, Brother, Lover'- a collection of selected lyrics- is being published by Faber and Faber- who also publish the work of Philip Larkin and Seamus Heaney.
But how does it feel for a pop star to be catapulted to the height of these literary greats?
