Michael Kiwanuka visits his north London musical roots

Soul singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka has won the BBC's Sound of 2012 list, which aims to highlight the most promising new music for the year ahead.

The singer has revealed that a small music shop in Crouch End, north London played a big part in his musical ambitions.

Kiwanuka says he was so impressed by a staff member's guitar playing at his local music shop, that he was inspired to be a better musician.

BBC News joined the soul singer on a trip back to the store where he bought his first guitar.
