Hockney on sitting for Lucian Freud
David Hockney has revealed some of Lucian Freud's work practices, ahead of two major showcases of the late painter's work.
Hockney said it was a "terrific experience" to sit for Freud and that the painter had created "a very good portrait".
He added: "He could paint faster if he pre-mixed a few colours... but I realised he likes you there longer."
Lucian Freud's work is on show at the National Portrait Gallery in London from 9 February until 27 May.
David Dawson: Working with Lucian Freud can be seen at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester until 20 May.
