Call Me Al: National Youth Ballet celebrates 25 years
The National Youth Ballet (NYB) was founded 25 years ago with only a few male dancers on the books.
Now, a quarter of the company is made up of male dancers and NYB's founder, Jill Tookey, says she has more boys auditioning for a place each year.
As part of the company's silver jubilee celebrations, seven teenagers are showcasing their skills in a male-only premiere performance of Call Me Al at Sadler's Wells.
The dancers say the piece, choreographed by Antony Dowson to the music of Paul Simon, is a chance for them to show off the strength and versatility of male dancers.
National Youth Ballet will be performing at the EM Forster Theatre from August 23 and at Sadler's Wells on September 2
