Carmen: Staging a large scale-opera with Noah Stewart and Cristina Nassif
Carmen, the romantic opera by Bizet, is being staged at the Royal Albert Hall with a company of more than 100 people.
Acrobats, fire jugglers, and sets vividly recreate the dusty streets of Seville, for this in-the-round production.
Sung in English, the score contains some of opera's most recognised pieces including Escamillo's rousing Song of the Toreador, Carmen's Seguidilla and Don José's heartfelt Flower Song.
BBC News spoke to Noah Stewart who sings Don José, Cristina Nassif as Carmen and director David Freeman during rehearsals, about the challenges of staging this tragic love story.
