Will Matilda triumph on Broadway'?

The award-winning British musical Matilda, inspired by the writings of children's novelist Roald Dahl, opened on Broadway on Thursday.

New York is the musical's first foray overseas and its sponsor, the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), hopes it could become a global phenomenon along the lines of Les Miserables.

Matilda's performance on Broadway is seen as a vital step towards that goal. The BBC's Tom Brook reports from New York.

Broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 12 April 2013.
