Kylie Minogue gives advice to cancer patients

Kylie Minogue has been honoured with a courage award at a cancer charity benefit in Beverly Hills.

The Australian singer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, admitted she found it hard to feel positive while battling the disease.

Speaking on the red carpet she said: "Sometimes when people say 'be positive' you can't be positive all the time."

She was presented with the award at the EIF Women's Cancer Research's annual benefit on Thursday night.

Minogue said she has been "inspired" by making music in the US after signing with Jay-Z's music label Roc Nation earlier this year.
