Jimmy Savile 'ran rings' around police forces
A West Yorkshire Police report has found "no evidence" Jimmy Savile was protected from arrest or prosecution by his relationship with the force.
But the review did find there was an "over reliance on personal friendships" between Savile and some officers.
Alan Collins, a solicitor who represents 43 of Savile's alleged victims, told the Today programme that "mistakes were clearly made.
"It's all about failing to join up the dots. There was intelligence, but that intelligence wasn't shared or used, so Savile was able to run rings around police forces."
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 10 May 2013.
