Elliott Gould on motivating Hitchcock and loving the UK

Elliott Gould, best known for his roles M*A*S*H and Friends, has revealed that he once gave Alfred Hitchcock a pep-talk.

The actor told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night that he had to convince Hitchcock to make another film.

"I got back to my room and there was Alfred Hitchcock... He said, 'I don't know if the audience still wants my fantasy' - and I said, 'without a doubt."

Gould also revealed that he and former wife Barbara Streisand loved the UK so much, they conceived their son in a London hotel.
