Jane Austen ring to stay in the UK after export ban

A ring that belonged to Jane Austen will stay in the UK after a museum raised the money to compete with US singer Kelly Clarkson.

She bought the turquoise and gold ring for £152,450 at auction last year, but the government put an export ban on the item and donations to Jane Austen's House Museum have raised enough to have a bid accepted.
