Norwegian broadcaster to air National Knitting Night

Norwegian TV is to broadcast a knitting contest, live on television for several hours.

National Knitting Night is the latest instalment in the country's "slow TV" phase.

Rune Moklebust, head of programming at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, told the Today programme's John Humphrys that he will be trying to break the Guinness World record for knitting a sweater from beginning to end - the beginning being the actual shearing of a sheep.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 1 November 2013.
