The thrill of the open road in all its forms is the subject of a new book by Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond.

On the Road recounts his life story through a series of journeys, from being in the back seat of his father's Ford Anglia en route to the seaside, to being behind the wheel of his first car.

However one of his abiding memories is the birthday gift of his first bicycle.
