Bhaskar and Syal call for more Asian TV storylines

Actor Sanjeev Bhaskar says that having more British Asian storylines on television would 'reflect the nation positively.'

Bhaskar made the comments as he and wife Meera Syal prepare to relaunch comedy The Kumars.

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Richard Bacon: "You have an Asian presence but they're not specifically Asian stories... until that happens you don't reflect an experience."

Syal agreed: "There's so much drama, so many stories to tell which haven't been told. It's a missed opportunity."
