Branagh: We need audiences not awards

Sir Kenneth Branagh has told BBC News that audience numbers were more important than awards when it comes to making films.

Branagh, who directs and stars in the new thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, was asked who he thinks should win an Oscar for Best Film at this year's Academy Awards.

American Hustle and Gravity both have 10 nominations, with 12 Years a Slave receiving 9.

Branagh said he hoped all the nominees would enjoy the run-up to awards season, while his co-star Keira Knightley was more forthcoming about which film she thought should win.
