Battle to save Africa's oldest national park told in film

Last week Emmanuel de Merode was ambushed and shot in the Democratic Republic of Congo where he serves as chief warden of the Virunga National Park.

He was badly wounded but he is recovering.

The incident highlights the dangers at large in the park where efforts have to be made to keep poachers and rebels at bay.

The lethal realities of life in Virunga National Park are the subject of a British documentary which has just had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
