Irvine Welsh in talks over Trainspotting film sequel
Writer Irvine Welsh has met Danny Boyle and the creative team behind Trainspotting to discuss the possibility of a film sequel.
The film would be based on Welsh's follow-up novel, Porno, in which the characters from Trainspotting cross paths again ten years later.
Mr Welsh said the talks, which took place in Edinburgh, were still "exploratory" and further progress depended on finding a script that would "really excite people."
He told BBC Radio 5 live's Richard Bacon: "We're not interested in doing something that will trash the legacy of Trainspotting... we want to do something that's very fresh and contemporary."
