'Hipster tsunami of whinging' about free U2 download

Apple's decision to mark the launch of their new products by giving everyone with iTunes accounts the new U2 album has not been universally well received.

Some took to Twitter to vent their frustration about the move.

Telegraph music critic Neil McCormick explained to Today programme presenter Justin Webb that it "may" be a good move for U2 but described the backlash from some people as a "hipster tsunami of whinging."

"They've got a free album - they don't have to listen to it - my heart bleeds," he added.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 12 September.
