Lionel Shriver wins BBC National Short Story Award

Lionel Shriver has won BBC National Short Story Award for her story Kilifi Creek.

The US writer who lives in London and was previously shortlisted for the prize in 2009 and 2013, received £15,000 for her story about a woman who cheats death.

Speaking at the ceremony she said she has "had so much practice losing that I don't know how to do this".

BBC Radio 4 programme Front Row recorded a special edition from the awards.
