Ed Sheeran on his journey from homelessness to fame

You hear Ed Sheeran's songs everywhere - he is the biggest selling artist in the UK this year.

He's become known for his collaborations and his ability to move from ballad to rap.

And although he's just 23 he has come up with a book about breaking into the industry which he says is not about "cashing in" but about showcasing the work of his friend the artist Philip Butah, someone he has known since he was 11 and whose work features on his albums. So in Ed Sheeran - a Visual Journey there are very few photos but a lot of portraits.

Ed Sheeran told the Today programme's Sarah Montague how the book came about.

First broadcast on the Today programme on 15 October 2014
