Sotheby's sued over 'Caravaggio' painting
A painting sold by Sotheby's in London for £42,000 is at the centre of a legal battle, amid claims it could be the work of Italian baroque master Caravaggio with a much greater value of around £11m.
Former owner Bill Thwaytes, of Penrith in Cumbria said he was told it was a copy - and he sold it at a knock-down price.
Now he says he was misinformed - and he is taking the auction house to court. Tim Allman reports.
