Oscar contender: Brooklyn

Brooklyn is one of eight films to have been nominated for a best picture Academy Award.

Based on the novel by Irish writer Colm Toibin, Brooklyn is set in the 1950s and stars Saoirse Ronan as Eilis Lacey, a young Irish girl who leaves her provincial life for one in the metropolis of Brooklyn, New York.
